The Problem

Lotus Retreats wanted to update their company branding and logo as well as redo their website to drive more traffic to their retreats.

My Role

UX/UI Designer and Brand Designer

The Old Website and Logo

The Rebrand

Company logo

They wanted to maintain the essence of their old logo featuring a lotus and the text “Lotus Retreats” however they wanted a more modern feel. While sticking with an obvious choice of the lotus as the main symbol to be incorporated, and keeping that aquamarine color, it resulted in this.

Website Redesign

The major issues with old site

  • The site was not mobile-friendly

  • Breakpoints that were jarring to the visitor.

  • There also wasn’t a clear direction for the user who wish to book a trip which was the site’s main goal.

  • Dark header image

  • The images were not consistent in their overall feel and low-resolution.

  • Social images hard to find

  • Newsletter sign-up not prominent

  • Subtext color font did not pass WCAG requirements

The solutions implemented in the new design

  • Cut down on the first-level navigation to drive more users to the Retreats page. Moved less-important info into footer.

  • Have a clear CTA in the hero section so users.

  • Include their accolades near the top of the page to instill trust in visitors early on.

  • Decluttered site with more white-space.

  • Focused on company’s selling points.

  • Included positive user review as, according to user surveys, 94% of consumers saying positive reviews make them more likely to use a business.

  • Added a mailing list form to grow contact list.

  • Used a 12-column grid to have more effective breakpoints for mobile viewing.

  • Updated color palette to meet all WCAG requirements
